When linking tables from a back-end database, it's desirable to use the Universal Naming Convention (UNC) path instead of a mapped drive letter. This way, other users or developers can use the front-end database without needing the same network drive letter. To get the UNC path under Windows 98, just use Network Neighborhood to select the computer and path instead of a mapped network drive. Also, even in Access 2.0, you can set the UNC path to an attached table by typing in the whole UNC path in the File Name field of the Select MicrosoftAccess Database dialog box.
